Seniors
At Zurich Mennonite Church we celebrate the life, heritage, example and leadership of our "grammas and grampas" - our seniors. Furthermore, as a body of followers of Jesus intent on maturing, we understand our need for those who have walked this road before us to point the way and to invest in the younger ones as they discover God's pathway.
Further to that, we want to embrace the many many seniors who live in our communities who do not necessarily enjoy the fellowship of a church family. In an era when the population is getting older, and many are retiring to this area, we see a great opportunity to love and serve people well in the 'golden years'.
Seniors enjoy fellowship and are equipped for ministry and life together in various ways at Zurich Mennonite Church:
- Prayer & Praise is a weekly gathering at the ZMC building to pray, sing and study the word together. This gathering is open to all and is especially attended by seniors; All are welcome!
- Silver Stars meets once monthly at the ZMC building on the 3rd Thursday of each month. We play shuffle board and also other table games. Sometimes we have groups entertaining. We also have a potluck meal sometimes. We always have a snack, tea and coffee and lots of good fellowship. Join us!
- ZMC Women's Missions & Material Committee meets regularly (2nd Thursday of the month, morning & afternoon) is made of mostly senior women. This is a time for quilting & tying comforters. We also sponsor a child through Compassion, regularly taking turns writing letters, and sending additional gifts at Christmas and birthday. Any woman of any age is welcome to join us.
- Senior men are invited to be a part fo the monthly Men's Breakfast (which is for all ages), meeting on the second Saturday of every month at 8:30am at Erb's Country Kitchen.
- Mennonite Women is a gathering of women for fellowship, mission and ministry to others. This group promotes and encourage women: to seek a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ; discern and nurture our gifts through mission, service and fellowship with each other; and build unifying relationships for affirmation and support.
"Each one should use whatever gift (she) has received to serve others, faithfully administrating God's grace in its various forms" 1 Peter 4:10 NIV
