Making Disciples

More on Making Disciples of Jesus

Making disciples is both a Holy Spirit mystery and something the church participates in. God draws people, challenges beliefs and empowers the heart to change. The church lovingingly embraces the world, serves people sacrificially with our whole lives, and communicates the life-changing gospel of Jesus. This is part of disciple-making.

What does discipling aim for? Discipleship is about making a person more and more like Jesus Christ (see I John 2:6, Romans 8:28-29, Galatians 4:19). Discipleship is learning to "walk as Jesus did", and it is only possible through the Holy Spirit's influence. In Kingsfield we are growing in understanding what shared practices truly help a person become more like Jesus.

We believe that the church is essential in various ways that help shape people to be like Jesus. We believe that gathering with fellow believers in Jesus, encountering the Word of God (the Bible) and eating together, praying together, as well as knowing one another as we follow together and serving others and the world together all shape a person to be more like Jesus.

See Confession & Covenant for more on what this 'growing up life' looks like, as well as Life Transformation Groups, and the various ministries under 'Maturing' in the Kingsfield Churches.
